Rio Seco School in Santee and The Whittier Institute for Diabetes are partnering to raise awareness about diabetes and have fun while doing it. Rio Seco is a K-8 grade school and each year the student body council chooses a charity to sponsor. One of the student council officers has Type 1 diabetes so they decided to select JDRF and the Walk to Cure Diabetes as their chosen charity for the year. Driven by the leadership of Jon Conway, ASB advisor at the school, and supported by Marci Labbee from The Whittier Institute for Diabetes, the students have done an amazing job getting involved with the Walk.

On October 9th, Rio Seco is hosting a school-wide JDRF/Diabetes Awareness day and 40 students have already signed up to walk with The Whittier Team on October 15th at UCSD. On the campus this year the student officers are selling paper sneakers for a dollar a piece and have sold 300 so far and still counting! Student and teachers are decorating the walls of classrooms with the colorful sneakers in support of JDRF. There is a school-wide competition to sell the most sneakers between individual classrooms and the winning class will win a pizza party!

Mention JDRF when booking your jewelry show and I will donate 50% of my commission to JDRF San Diego.  If you’d like to get together with some girlfriends to catch up and play dress up, all while helping out a fantastic cause, give me a call!  No Boring Presentations…just a lot of Fun!  I look forward to partying with you!
